Our society trip to Winchester and Beaulieu – Saturday June 25th 2016. We left Hollow Rd, Kingswood ,Bristol at 8.15 am arriving in Winchester at 10am Members then had three hours to look at the town , visit the Cathedral and various Museums that Winchester is known for. A new heritage board with highlights of Kingswood’s history was officially unveiled in the park on January 9th 2016 by the Chair of South Glos Council, Councillor Erica Williams. The Kingswood History Society installed the Board with the help of the Friends of Kingswood Park, Sovereign Housing, the Southwest Foundation and South Glos. Council. Our thanks go to each of them. Outing To Cardiff Castle and Waterfront – Saturday 18th July 2015 We left Kingswood at 8.30am and arrived at the Castle approx 9.45am. Our party was split into two groups of twenty-three , the first group were on the ten past ten tour which was lead by a Guide, with the second group starting their guided tour at twenty past ten . On Saturday 30th May 2015 the Kingswood History Society visited Knightshayes Court, near Tiverton Devon. We arrived at approx 11am the weather was very good with just a small amount of cloud. Unfortunately two elderly members had to back out because of illness, we were then able to ask one of our newer, younger members to come along and to bring her little daughter with her. Our trip to Anglesey from March 31st to April 2nd 2015 was enjoyed by twenty two members sharing a coach with another group. We had two steam train rides booked first on the Blaenau Ffestiniog from Porthmadog, followed by a trip on the Welsh Highland Railway from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, with a day in between for sightseeing . On Saturday 5th July 2014 42 members and friends enjoyed their annual outing to the Milestones Museum on the outskirts of Basingstoke, Hampshire. We arrived at 11am and were not disappointed with what we found, a very well laid out and interesting museum. After lunch, taken in the museum we then boarded our coach for a visit to the Watercress Railway. This ran from Alton to Alresford a distance of 10 miles with some beautiful views over the Hampshire countryside….
Saturday 8th June 2013 The Kingswood History Society enjoyed their annual outing to Hampton Court Castle near Leominster. We arrived at 11.20am. Our lunch was booked for 12.30 so just over an hour was spent looking the gardens, lunch was taken and everyone remarked how delicious the food was.
