A society trip to The Black Country Living Museum June 9th 2012

The Kingswood History Society visited the Black Country Living Museum at Dudley in the West Midlands. This is mainly an open air type museum very much like St Fagans at Cardiff and Beamish in County Durham. In area it is approx 26 Acres.

Museum arrived at the Museum at 10.30am .

We were very lucky with the weather, it being slightly overcast but no rain . We were welcomed by Mr. David Eveleigh, the Curator, who gave us a very interesting talk about the Black Country, its heritage and industry, then an  introductory talk about the museum itself. We  had five and a half hours to enjoy the exhibits, which included a trip on a canal barge to the underground caverns, a drink in the museums Bottle & Glass pub , fish and chips in the local chipper, a visit down the coalmine, and rides on a trolley bus.

Altogether a brilliant day out.
